I was driving to see one of my patients and I got involved in an accident. It was a traumatic experience. My graduation was hanging on a balance. 2004 I was in Nigeria. I got a scholarship from Ford Foundation International. I went to NYU to do my postgraduate and I was looking forward to a successful life. I was supposed to graduate in 2011 and I got involved in the accident. While I was about to make a left turn, the ambulance had a stop sign. They came crashing down on me. A few days later, I discovered that I couldn’t do anything anymore. I pushed through the pain, I graduated, but then I could not walk again. They told me, “You cannot function as a physical therapist.” In my mind, I was like, “I’m never ever gonna practice as a physical therapist.”
Here comes Steve being there like, “I’m going to support you. If you need to go through surgery, you gotta go through surgery. At the end, I want you to be stable and move on with your life.” That’s the reason why I’m still talking to you today. Steve took up the case, argued the case, and we won. Steve will tell you what to expect from the beginning to the end. Once you do what Steve tells you to do, everything plays out exactly the way. I’m talking to you because I’m alive. I have four kids and these kids owe their life to him. The people that don’t know where to go, who to turn to, Steve is the right man.
